Kathy Slack


Kathy Slack has had an extensive career in both academia and theater/music.

She holds a BA in Theater/Speech Communication with a Music Minor from Ithaca College; and a MA in Communication Studies from the University of Maine/Orono. Along with teaching Communication courses for the University of Maine system, Ms. Slack teaches Voice at the 317 Main St. Community Music School in Yarmouth, Maine, and manages a home Voice studio.

Kathy works with all kinds of repertoire, and has been trained in both classical (Frederick Petrich, Peabody Conservatory; Jutta Rose, Manhattan School of Music) and contemporary, non-classical, music styles (Jeanette LoVetri; Somatic Voicework tm). She continues to study with jazz great, Rhiannon, (WeBe3), a colleague of Bobby McFerrin, and member of his renowned Voicestra.

Along with roles Off-Off Broadway in NYC, (i.e., Queen Elizabeth, Dark Lady of the Sonnets, National Arts Theater), Kathy played a Nurse on the former NBC TV soap opera, The Doctors. She is a member of Actors Equity and the National Association for Teachers of Singing and she sings with the renowned vocal improv group, Improvox. Along with eating Twizzlers, Kathy has a passion for yodeling.
