HenryFest 2017

THANK YOU!!!!!

From the moment volunteers waved the first family through the gate at Skyline Farm until the last slice of pie was served, HenryFest 2017 was a blast.

Thank you  to the wonderful group of musicians who contributed their talent and energy to our annual community music festival: Star-Crossed Losers,  The Gawler Family, Mbondo Africa, Katie Matzell, Old Eleven & Emilia Dahlin.

And thanks to YOU our community of friends and supporters who,  like us,  set aside the somewhat gloomy forecast, showed up and were rewarded with a perfect September Day.

Not only do we love hanging out with you, the event is an important fundraiser for 317 Main Community Music Center, allowing us to support mission-critical musical education programs.

If you missed it, here ‘s a highlight reel of some of the fun we had together. Mark your calendars now. HenryFest 2018 is scheduled for Saturday, September 8th.

One of the goals of this year’s festival is to make the day equally fun for children and grown ups. With that in mind, 317 Main’s Little Roots educators have expanded the range of supervised children’s activities to include face-painting, hula hooping, storytime with Islandport Press, a make-and-take craft station, an instrument discovery tent and a colorful parade that will weave its way through the crowd during the peak of the festival.

Also new to HenryFest this year are a broad range of music and dance workshops. “Because many HenryFest fans are musicians themselves, and all are music-curious, we wanted everyone to have a chance to be part of what we do best at 317 Main,” said Hoffman. “We decided to make the day more participatory by allowing artists to interact with listeners in a more personal way, and to give festival attendees the chance to learn something new, like work songs from the Gawler family farm or traditional Congolese dance led by Mbondo Africa.”
