Summer Camps

Each summer, 317 Main offers a variety of fun and engaging summer music camps designed for a wide range of ages, skill levels and abilities. All camps share the common goal of learning and playing music together.

Campers explore a variety of musical styles in an encouraging and non-competitive learning atmosphere. Our camps offer a stellar team of instructors who teach a variety of acoustic instruments, voice, and songwriting.

The Acoustic Discovery Camps are geared for our younger campers. Teachers provide a fun introduction to American “roots” music including folk, pop, bluegrass, old-time, Irish, jazz, blues, and other musical genres.

In our Acoustic Adventure Camps, older campers who have some prior experience on their instruments spend time in ensemble play, repertoire building, broadening technique, exploring improvisation, and songwriting. Vocalists are always encouraged to participate.

In addition to hands-on experience with a variety of musical styles and instruments, each camper enjoys the benefits of making music with their peers. Creative expression, self-confidence, listening skills, teamwork, and improved concentration are just a few of the benefits of their week at camp.

All students receive individual and group instruction during each session. Every day also includes ample time for games and outdoor fun at the nearby Royal River Park in Yarmouth.

Camp Descriptions:

317 Main’s Acoustic Discovery Camp is a fun and innovative way to introduce your child to a variety of acoustic instruments: violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, harp, penny whistle, and keyboard. This camp is for those with little or no experience and is an excellent way to springboard into private or group lessons. Campers may sign up for either or both session weeks. Campers attending both weeks will build on their basic skills learned in week one, and will have the opportunity to try new instruments during week two.
