NEW ENGLAND FOLK TRADITION SHARED WITH ROWE SCHOOL STUDENTS

The gym at Rowe School in Yarmouth became a dance hall Wednesday morning when 317 Main’s Maggie Robinson and Tamora Goltz taught the Kindergarten and First graders the basics of Contra dancing. Maggie, an experienced caller, lined up the students in pairs and called out instructions as Tamora kept the beat with lively fiddle tunes.

The Contra Dance lesson is part of a 3 part music enrichment series, funded in part by the Yarmouth Music Boosters.

The students will also take part in a stringed instrument demonstration and a percussion workshop.

L-R Tamora Goltz (fiddler), Maggie Robinson (caller), Jake Hoffman (317 Partnership Program Coordinator), Christina Townsend (Rowe Music Teacher)
