Join us for a one-of-a-kind strings workshop in collaboration with Portland Ovations and world renowned composer Daniel Bernard Roumain. Suggested for string students 9-16 years old with at least 1 year of experience.
From his website: "Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is a Black, Haitian-American composer who sees composing as collaboration with artists, organizations and communities within the farming and framing of ideas. He is a prolific and endlessly collaborative composer, performer, educator, and social entrepreneur." Students will have the opportunity to collaborate and perform a piece specifically selected for 317 Main's string players, and to be led by DBR during the workshop. If you have questions about whether this workshop is suitable for your child or musician, please reach out to Director of Music Education, Alicia Phelps, at alicia@317main.org
