Summer Deck Concert Series
Free For All | 6 p.m. Every Thursday | Beginning July 10
Follow The Crows plays the porch on July 31.
We’re bringing live music to the John Williams Front Porch all summer long. These free, casual, family-friendly concerts feature beloved local acts, backyard bands, duos, and more—free and open to the community!
This year’s series is generously sponsored by Black Tie Catering, who’ll be serving up a casual, summery menu featuring local oysters, hot dogs, nachos, tacos, and ice cream sandwiches, plus a rotating selection of seasonal cocktails like Aperol spritzes, margaritas, and more.
Come for the music, stay for the sunset, and enjoy a night that feels like summer should.
On Deck This Summer
True to their name, Front Porch String Band found their rhythm right here on the front porch at 317.
Born out of a shared love for Americana, roots, and bluegrass, this group of longtime musicians met through 317’s ensemble classes and never looked back. Their sound blends old-time favorites with fresh energy and heartfelt harmonies.
The band features a crew of 317 regulars—John Williams (mandolin), who many will recognize as our former Executive Director; Jim Atherton (bass and vocals); Dave Sundelin (guitar and vocals); and Edith Meserve (fiddle and vocals). Their story is a celebration of what 317 is all about: connection, creativity, and community through music.
Fronted by longtime 317 friend and songwriter Ben Woods, Loose Threads weaves together classic rock ‘n’ roll, soul, and original compositions with tight musicianship and infectious energy. Whether you’re here to sing along or just soak in the groove, this set promises to deliver heart and heat.
The band features Ben Woods on guitar and vocals, joined by a powerhouse trio: Nick Pires on drums, Gregg Hoerr on guitar, and Dave Saunders on bass.
Hailing from nearby Cumberland, Charlie Moore is a rising voice in the acoustic folk/pop scene.
His heartfelt originals blend the lyrical sensitivity of Noah Kahan with the sweeping energy of Mumford & Sons and the introspective feel of Coldplay. Charlie’s sets pair original songs with stripped-down covers of artists like Tyler Childers and Zach Bryan, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and expansive.
Follow the Crows is a folk-rock/Americana duo featuring singer-songwriter Janice O'Rourke and multi-instrumentalist Mark McDonough.
Their catalogue includes well-crafted, upbeat originals, and a few covers from their favorite artists. For their 7/31 Summer Deck Series show, FTC will be joined by April Reed-Cox on cello, and 317 teaching artist Joe Beninati on drums.
Flight at the Family Picnic is a joyful collision of rock, blues, and pop covers—played not always true to the original, but always with the kind of energy that gets feet moving. This spirited ensemble leans into spontaneity, groove, and fun, creating performances that compel both the band and the audience to dance along.
The lineup includes: Rich Cantz (drums), Steve Cox (bass guitar/vocals), Jim Nicholas (accordion/vocals/percussion), Dave Cox (tenor sax/percussion/vocals), Laurel Cox (alto sax/percussion/vocals), Marlena Faxon (lead vocals/percussion), Gregg Hoerr (lead guitar), and Dan Edwards (rhythm guitar).
We’re thrilled to welcome the Yarmouth High School Jazz Combo to the Summer Deck Series—a group of talented young musicians bringing classic and contemporary jazz to life with style and skill. Representing some of the area’s brightest up-and-coming players, this combo delivers the improvisational spirit and rich sound of jazz in a way that feels fresh and inspiring.
Come out to support the next generation of local artists and enjoy an evening of great music from Yarmouth’s own.
Beloved Teaching Artist Ted DeMille returns to the 317 porch with longtime collaborator Taylor Smith for an evening of original songs, story-driven lyrics, and rootsy, melodic Americana.
Ted’s music—spanning decades of songwriting and four family albums—captures wonder, warmth, and wisdom in equal measure. Whether you know him from Little Roots, the classroom, or countless 317 concerts, Ted’s presence on the porch feels like coming home.
With influences ranging from Joni Mitchell and Willie Nelson to Pete Seeger and The Band, Ted’s sound is as welcoming as it is soulful. Joined by Taylor Smith’s steady groove and musical chemistry, this duo brings heart and harmony to every performance.
