Georgia Beatty
Teaches: Fiddle, Cello, Hardanger fiddle, Voice. I specialize in Scandinavian traditional music plus Irish/ Old-time/ Classical/ Singer-songwriter
Teaching Philosophy: Music is for connection, play, empowerment, carrying culture, and so much more. My approach to music making is very embodied. We might look like we are just playing a lighthearted musical game in one lesson, but when you go home to practice you will realize that actually we were practicing somatics, and creating neurological pathways to access our innate ability to be musical beings! You are just like the singing birds and the croaking frogs, you are just like all of your favorite musicians who may seem so talented and unapproachable! I will always be reminding you there is no such thing as "impossible".
Greatest Music Influences: Fiddlers: Hans Brimi, Mats Edén and Hauk Buen.
Bands: Beyoncé, Beach House, The Swell Season
When I’m not making music: I am probably walking in the woods or making some delicious food with friends!
Favorite place in Maine: Tidal pools.
