IDA MAE SPECKER - FOLK FIDDLING STUDENT WORKSHOP

  • 317 Main Community Music Center 317 Main Street Yarmouth, ME, 04096 United States (map)

Open to fiddle students with at least 1 year of playing experience (students ages 6 and younger must be accompanied by an adult). Join us for a one-of-a-kind strings workshop in collaboration with Portland Ovations and celebrated Vermont fiddle legend Ida Mae Specker. Ida Mae's clear, engaging fiddle lessons emphasize ear-training and everything you need to know to learn this unique American art form. Chord progressions, rhythmic structure and the history and theory of old-time music enhance the student's experience. In any context, Specker's classes and workshops offer a fun, age-appropriate space for kids and adults alike to build life-long confidence in their natural music making abilities and foster a love of folk music and the joy and human connection it brings!
