Songs From Here
We are thrilled to host Songs From Here, a melodic and poetic celebration of Maine's crafts and trades by Sarah Tuttle and Bridget Convey!
Now in their fourth concert season, Songs From Here performance duo Sarah Tuttle (voice) and Bridget Convey (piano) present a program that celebrates a few of the crafts and trades of Maine. This program for 317 Main includes brand-new arrangements of sea songs by beloved Maine folk musician Gordon Bok, new takes on traditional Acadian folk melodies, and original songs by resident composer Erica Ball that reflect on motherhood and the often-invisible work of the home. A piece by student composer Scott Barber pays tribute to one of Maine's most famous exports - blueberries!

"Songs From Here brings together music and poetry in a way I've never seen before in Maine. The project is collaborative and inclusive, and seeks to connect with audiences all over the state. As a poet, it was a joy to experience the synergy that happens when artistic disciplines speak to each other on the same stage."
- Jefferson Navicky , award-winning poet & archivist, SFH ‘22 participating poet

Little Roots on the Go
Our Little Roots classes at 317 Main are designed to plant the seeds for a lifelong love of music for children and their families.
Repertoire is engaging for both parents and children as they sing, play, and move together. Repetition is built into the classes giving everyone the opportunity to grow their musical skills. We believe that developing the ability to expressively sing, keep a steady beat, and move to music will strengthen human connections in families and in our community.
Little Roots Family (0-5 year olds with caregiver) children develop the love of music together through song and movement. Learn songs and rhymes along with your child that you can incorporate into your daily routines.

Circle Singing
Come join us in a fun loving, singing experience where we will celebrate light's return through CircleSinging. What better way to bring light into the lives of others and ourselves, than through singing in community. If you're not familiar with this form of singing, the following quote gives a lovely summation: CircleSinging is: vocal “jamming,” add-a-part/change-a-part, vocal orchestra, “voicestra”, a “drum circle” for singers, or just plain “make it up” singing. It’s done all over the world in countless different ways and it dates back to the earliest forms of human singing.
