With decades of experience playing for Scottish Country Dance, Scandinavian folk, and international music communities from Boston to Knoxville to Portland, Betsy brings deep knowledge and a warm, welcoming spirit to every session. Whether you’re a seasoned player or simply curious, this informal spelmanslag (jam group) is a place to learn, listen, and play the hauntingly beautiful dance music of Sweden and beyond. Bring your instrument—and your curiosity—and be part of this growing tradition at 317 Main.

We welcome intermediate players and above who are new to the traditional Scandinavian playing. The group primarily plays by ear, but it is not required and sheet music will be provided. Join us (in room 109) to play along or just to listen!
