Music Sampler Camp

9:00AM - 3:30PM, with the option of before/after care 8:30AM - 4:30PM
$425 per week, June 29th through August 21st

Sampler Camp is where curiosity meets music—and where kids ages 6–8 get to try it all. Created especially for beginners, this camp offers a fun, low-pressure introduction to music in a welcoming, community-centered setting.

Throughout the week, campers explore piano, fiddle, or ukulele in small group lessons, alongside general music activities that build rhythm, listening skills, and musical confidence. Specialty classes like choir, digital music, and songwriting give kids room to experiment, create, and discover what lights them up.

Music-making is only part of the story. Sampler Camp is full of movement, laughter, and connection, with outdoor recess (weather permitting), group games, and community-building activities woven into each day. The week ends with a Friday afternoon concert—an exciting, celebratory moment where campers share their progress and take a proud bow. With optional private lessons and extended care available, Sampler Camp is an easy, enriching way to make music part of your child’s summer.

Campers can add one or two 30-minute private lessons during the week for $30 per lesson. These can be scheduled during the camp day or immediately following camp.

We also offer optional before- and after-care for $10 per day to help make schedules easier for families. Please note that after-care is not available on Fridays.

Morning Meeting
We gather as a community to review the day, set shared expectations, and kick things off with fun, low-pressure games that help campers feel connected and ready to play.

9:30–10:15 AM
Group Lesson #1
Hands-on music-making in small groups. Campers explore piano, fiddle, or ukulele with guidance from our teaching artists—no prior experience required.

10:15–11:00 AM
Snack & Teaching Artist Workshop
A quick snack break followed by a rotating workshop led by 317 Main teaching artists, featuring short, engaging activities that introduce new musical ideas and spark curiosity.

Group Lesson #2
Back to instruments, building on the morning’s learning and strengthening skills through play, repetition, and encouragement.

11:45 AM–12:30 PM
Lunch & Outdoor Recess (weather permitting)
Time to refuel, move, and recharge—whether that’s running outside, playing games, or relaxing with friends.

Instrument Adventure Camp

Instrument Adventure Camp is an immersive, collaborative music experience for students ages 9–11 who have at least one year of experience on an instrument and are ready to dig a little deeper. Designed for curious, motivated young musicians, this camp centers on playing music with others—building independence, listening skills, and a stronger musical voice through hands-on ensemble work.

Throughout the week, campers participate in full-group workshops, small ensemble sessions, and daily jams that emphasize musical communication and collaboration. Campers also personalize their experience by choosing electives such as choir, piano as a second instrument, music theory, or learning by ear, allowing them to explore new skills while strengthening their primary instrument.

Led by 317 Main’s experienced teaching artists, the camp balances structure with exploration—supporting technical growth while encouraging creativity and confidence. The week culminates in a Friday afternoon public concert, where campers share their music, celebrate their progress, and experience the excitement of performing as part of an ensemble.

Genre Immersive Camp

$425 per week, Weeks 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9 only.

Genre Immersive Camp is a deep-dive, style-focused music experience for students ages 12–14 who have two or more years of instrumental or vocal experience and are ready for a meaningful artistic challenge. Designed for committed young musicians, each week centers on a specific genre—such as Folk, Pop, Classical, Rock, or Choral—giving students the opportunity to explore the techniques, history, and performance practices that each musical world.

Throughout the week, campers engage in daily masterclasses and ensemble rehearsals led by 317 Main’s expert teaching artists, strengthening their musical identity while expanding both technical skill and expressive range. Much of the day is spent collaborating in small and large ensembles, where repertoire choices and musical direction are strongly shaped by student voice—encouraging independence, leadership, and thoughtful musical dialogue.

Electives such as improvisation, composition, aural skills, music theory, and piano skills allow campers to further customize their experience and go deeper into areas of interest. Each day wraps up with high-energy group jams that blend prepared material with spontaneous creativity. The week culminates in a Friday afternoon public concert, showcasing the growth, artistry, and collaborative spirit that emerge through focused, ensemble-driven work.
