Catherine found her way to music at a young age after hearing the sound of a string quartet and feeling drawn to the resonant and mellow sound of the cello. A two-time recipient of the Music Performers Trust Fund and the Southern Illinois Chamber Music Society Award, Catherine has participated in festivals such as the Miami Classical Music Festival and the Southern Illinois Music Festival. Her performance experience includes freelancing in the Midwest and New England with ensembles like the Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra, where she also served as principal cello. Catherine has taken part in several masterclasses; notably with cellist Inbal Segev, cellist Yibing Chu and A Far Cry Orchestra. While pursuing a graduate degree in Music Education, she co-directed the Southern Illinois Youth Orchestra and actively performed in chamber music group, Ensemble Versatile, a community-focused music initiative connecting musicians across generational barriers. She believes music education is a pathway for holistic student development and fostering personal expression. A Suzuki method teacher, her current research explores the role of parental involvement in Suzuki pedagogy.
