Sam Schuth is a violinist, violist, and teacher living in South Portland, Maine. His mission as a performer is to make a positive impact on his local community through live performance, connecting with the audience and fostering their love of music and music-making. Sam has performed with orchestras including the Bangor Symphony, the Portland Ballet, and Maine Music Society. He also regularly plays with the Bates College and Colby College orchestras. One of Sam’s passions is performing music by local composers and he has premiered works for the Back Cove Contemporary Music Festival and the Frontiers of Music concert series in Brunswick, ME. Sam has also played in many musical theater productions, including “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” and “Newsies” with Maine State Music Theater, as well as productions with the Portland Players, Cast Aside Productions and other companies throughout Maine. Sam studied violin with Dr. Robert Lehmann at the University of Southern Maine, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance. While at USM, Sam was concertmaster of the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra and was featured as a soloist in Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. He also toured the state of Maine with both the USM String Quartet and the USM String Quintet.
