Position Description:
We are looking for Violin/Fiddle Teaching Artists who are passionate about bringing 317 Main’s mission to life in their lessons and classes, and can create a warm welcoming environment for every student and family.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Provide thoughtful and engaging weekly musical instruction to violin/fiddle private lesson students at 317 Main in line with 317 Main’s mission.
Uphold regular and prompt communication with 317 Main staff, students, and families as needed.
Work with enrollment staff to develop a schedule for student lessons that meets the needs of both the Teaching Artist and 317 Main.
Contribute to 317 Main’s vibrant culture of community centered music-making.
Participate in quarterly all-staff meetings and trainings.
Qualifications:
Have passion, dedication, and experience in the fields of music and education
Have strong background in performance on given instrument
Be personally engaging, friendly, and want to work in a fast-paced community-oriented environment
Be able to create lesson plans that meet the musical needs of a variety of student ages, abilities, and interests
Be willing to learn new songs/repertoire as needed for instruction
Schedule & Requirements:
Teaching Artist schedules vary widely depending on instrument and Teaching Artist availability, but typically include a weekly schedule of lessons and/or classes that change each session (4 sessions per year). Teaching Artists are also responsible for attending four seasonal in-service meetings each year. Tuesday and Fridays are preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation: $45.50/hour for private lessons, $55+/hour for ensembles, $20/hour for administrative work
Eligible for paid time off (1 hour per 40 hours worked)
