PRIVATE RECURRING LESSONS
How long is the commitment for private recurring lessons?
Private recurring lessons are an academic year commitment running from September through June. Because we offer rolling enrollment, you can join at any time during the year, and your commitment will simply run from your start date through the end of June.
How does scheduling and billing work for private recurring lessons?
Your time slot is permanently reserved for you on the same day and time each week. You are billed automatically on the 1st of every month through our secure portal.
Weekly vs. bi-weekly? We recommend students participate in weekly lessons to receive the full benefit of regular instruction and support while learning an instrument. In certain circumstances, bi-weekly lessons are available upon request. Please email register@317main.org if you are interested. Bi-weekly lessons are not offered during peak times and at the discretion of staff.
How much will I be charged each month?
Instead of a flat monthly rate, you only pay for the exact number of lessons that fall on the calendar for that specific month. If your lesson day occurs 4 times in a month, you pay for 4 lessons. If it occurs 5 times, you pay for 5.
What happens if 317 Main cancels my lesson or closes for weather?
If we have to cancel due to teacher unavailability or severe weather, we will cancel the lesson on our end. You don’t need to do anything—a full monetary credit for that missed lesson will automatically apply to your next month's invoice.
What if I have to miss a lesson?
Because your time slot is exclusively reserved for you, we cannot offer refunds, credits, or guaranteed makeup sessions for student-initiated absences. However, if you know about an absence in advance, email us at register@317main.org. We will try our best to find a reschedule option, depending on your teaching artist's availability.
GROUP CLASSES & ENSEMBLES
How are group classes scheduled throughout the year?
Group classes run on a trimester session schedule based on the school year:
Fall Session: 12 weeks (11 weeks for Monday classes)
Winter Session: 13 weeks
Spring Session: 12 weeks (11 weeks for Monday classes)
What are the payment options for group classes?
When registering for a group class session, you can choose between two convenient billing options:
Upfront Payment: Pay for the entire 12-week or 13-week session tuition all at once during registration.
Monthly Billing: Pay as you go. You will be automatically charged on the 1st of every month for the exact number of classes occurring within that specific month.
What happens if 317 Main cancels a group class or closes for weather?
317 Main’s cancellation policy for classes and ensembles is identical to private recurring lessons. If we must cancel a group class due to staff unavailability or severe weather, we will cancel the session on our end. A monetary credit for that missed class will be automatically applied to your next invoice.
Can I get a credit or a refund if I miss a group class?
No. Just like private recurring lessons, students are not provided credits, refunds, or makeup options for their own personal absences. Your tuition secures your enrollment spot in the class for the duration of the trimester session.
DROP-IN LESSONS
What are Drop-In lessons?
Drop-In lessons are single, one-off sessions designed for students who want a flexible schedule without a long-term commitment.
How are Drop-In lessons scheduled?
These lessons are scheduled on a week-to-week basis. Because availability changes you can book a drop-in lesson no more than 7 days in advance and no less than 24 hours before the desired lesson time.
How does billing work for Drop-In lessons?
Because these are one-off appointments rather than monthly recurring schedules, payment is due in full at the time of booking to secure your specific slot.
