317 Main Summer Camp Teaching Artist

Position Description:

We are looking for Summer Camp Teaching Artists who are passionate about bringing 317 Main’s mission to life through summer programming, and can create a warm welcoming environment for every student and family. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide thoughtful and engaging musical instruction to 317 Main students enrolled in 317 Main’s summer camp programs in line with 317 Main’s mission.

  • Uphold regular and prompt communication with 317 Main staff, students, and families as needed.

  • Contribute to 317 Main’s vibrant culture of community centered music-making.

Qualifications:

  • Have passion, dedication, and experience in the fields of music and education

  • Have strong background in music performance on given instrument

  • Be personally engaging, friendly, and want to work in a fast-paced community-oriented environment

  • Be able to create group lesson plans that meet the musical needs of a variety of student ages, abilities, and interests

  • Be willing to learn new songs/repertoire as needed for instruction

Camp-Specific Needs:

Music Sampler Camps (ages 6-8, running all 9 weeks) - Have playing and teaching experience in ukulele, piano, or violin/fiddle

  • Instrument Adventure Camps (ages 9-11, running weeks of June 29th, July 6th, July 27th, August 3rd, and August 17th) - Have playing experience on one or more instruments, and confidence coaching a group of early intermediate students in their first ensemble-playing experience

  • Genre Immersive Camps (ages 12-14, Folk week July 13th, Pop/Rock week July 20th, Choral week August 10th, Jazz week August 24th) - Have playing experience on one or more instruments, and confidence coaching a group of intermediate students in the given style/genre/tradition of music

Schedule & Requirements:

Summer camp schedules require TAs to be onsite during the entirety of camp programming from 9am-3:30pm on contracted weeks, with the option to work extended care hours from 8:30am-4:30pm. TAs must be available for the entire duration of the week to work that camp week, but specific weeks are flexible based on availability of the TA.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation: $24/hr

  • Eligible for seasonal free and paid professional development opportunities
