Mackenzie Renner

Originally from Alton, New Hampshire, Mackenzie Renner began studying piano at the age of four and has been passionate about music ever since. She recently earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the Osher School of Music at the University of Southern Maine, where she studied piano with Laura Kargul and voice with Scott Wheatley. 

Throughout her time at the Osher School of Music, Mackenzie was an active collaborative pianist, performing chamber music and accompanying both vocalists and instrumentalists. She has also performed as a pianist with the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Casco Bay Wind Symphony, and the Osher Wind Ensemble. In recognition of her artistry and musicianship, she was twice named a winner of the Osher School of Music’s annual Honors Recital.

Beyond her collegiate work, Mackenzie is an active collaborative pianist throughout the community, accompanying middle and high school choirs, performing for auditions and competitions, and serving as a pianist for musical theater productions and other performances. A former collegiate athlete, she also serves as an assistant coach for the University of Southern Maine softball team.

As a piano and voice teacher, Mackenzie believes that every student is capable of meaningful musical growth when they feel supported, challenged, and valued as individuals. Her teaching emphasizes not only technical development, but also curiosity, creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. She strives to create a positive and encouraging environment where students can develop their skills, express themselves through music, and discover the joy of making music. When she’s not teaching, performing, or coaching, Mackenzie enjoys solving crossword puzzles and spending time outdoors.
